Summary

Martha Turner Reilly Elementary is a PK-5 school in the Dallas Independent School District (Isd) serving 547 students, with about 75% qualifying for free or reduced lunch—a significantly lower poverty rate than most nearby DISD schools.

Reilly stands out for its exceptional bilingual program, consistently outperforming both the district and state on Spanish-language STAAR exams, and for strong early reading skills, with 74% of 3rd graders proficient in English reading versus 49% district-wide. However, the school shows a wide gap in performance: while White students rank in the 97th percentile statewide, other groups like African American and Gifted & Talented students score well below the school average. Science is a persistent weakness, with only 20% of 5th graders proficient. Nearby Victor H. Hexter Elementary (83rd percentile) outperforms Reilly in most subjects, likely due to its lower poverty rate (50% free/reduced lunch). Just 1.89 miles away, Lake Highlands Elementary in Richardson Independent School District (Isd) (97th percentile) achieves 80%+ proficiency across subjects, highlighting how district resources and community demographics impact outcomes.

Reilly is a solid mid-tier school with notable strengths in bilingual education and early literacy, but families should be aware of uneven subgroup performance and a need for improvement in science. The school’s lower poverty rate compared to DISD peers like Casa View Elementary (96% free/reduced lunch) provides a more balanced economic environment, yet it cannot match the performance of schools in wealthier districts. Special education results have been volatile, swinging from a 10th to 87th percentile ranking in recent years, so parents should monitor this area closely.

Open Quote We have a kindergartener at Reilly and love the school. It's been fantastic for her and she's eager to learn. Her teacher and all the teachers we've met are enthusiastic and dedicated to the students. And principal Jackson has been wonderful. The PTA is active and the neighborhood is engaged. This is definitely a school on the rise! Close Quote
