Summary

Charles A Gill Elementary is a public elementary school in Dallas, Texas, serving 612 students in grades PK-5. It is part of the Dallas Independent School District, which is ranked 493 out of 961 districts in the state.

Charles A Gill Elementary has consistently underperformed compared to the district and state averages in STAAR Reading, Mathematics, and Science proficiency across grades 3-5. For example, the school's projected 3rd grade STAAR Reading proficiency for 2024-2025 is 40%, compared to 47.27% for Dallas ISD and 52.02% for Texas. The school's performance is particularly low in 5th grade STAAR Science, with only 22.83% proficiency projected for 2024-2025, compared to 22.94% for Dallas ISD and 29.57% for Texas. Additionally, the school has lower performance for several student subgroups, including Female, African American, and Gifted and Talented students, compared to their peers across Texas.

When comparing Charles A Gill Elementary to nearby schools within the Dallas ISD, such as Martha Turner Reilly Elementary and Reinhardt Elementary, the performance gap is significant. For instance, Martha Turner Reilly Elementary is projected to have 68.52% proficiency in 3rd grade STAAR Reading for 2024-2025, compared to Charles A Gill's 40%. This suggests that the challenges faced by Charles A Gill Elementary may be unique to the school and not necessarily reflective of the broader district performance. The school's high percentage of economically disadvantaged students, ranging from 90.76% to 93.46% over the past few years, may indicate a need for additional resources and support to address the unique challenges faced by this population.

Open Quote your school, isn't diverse enough, when my son went there(he's white), all the other kids of african american, and hispanic descent, beat him up and bullied him everyday, I feel as though your school should teach about equality, or that everyone is the same, it's not fair that everyone judged my child by the color of his skin, just because he was white, doesn't mean he shouldn't fit in, we no longer live in that area, and my son is no longer enrolled in your school, he now goes to therapy, because your "other" students bullied and picked on him so much, he doesn't even want to be white anymore, he said to me the other day, "i wish i was black, or hispanic, so that way they wouldn't have beat me for being different" if i had to rate your school i would give it a zero and no stars, your school is a terrible environment for any child Close Quote
