Summary

Reilly Elementary is a mid-sized school in the Austin Independent School District (Isd), serving 349 students from Pre-K through 5th grade, and has achieved a remarkable turnaround to become a top-tier performer, ranking in the 88th percentile statewide with a 4-star rating for the 2025-2026 school year. This school stands out as a beacon in a neighborhood with stark contrasts, where nearby schools like Ridgetop Elementary and Gullett Elementary also rank high, while others like Pickle Elementary and Hart Elementary struggle in the bottom 10%.

Reilly’s overall success hides a significant challenge: it provides an excellent education for its English-proficient and higher-income students, with White students ranking in the 96th percentile, but it struggles to support its Spanish-speaking English Language Learners and low-income students, who rank in the 33rd and 6th percentiles respectively. This "school within a school" dynamic is evident in test scores, where English STAAR results far exceed state averages—for example, 85.71% proficiency in 5th Grade Reading versus 58.47% statewide—while Spanish STAAR scores are critically low, with 5th Grade Reading at just 7.69% proficiency, below the district average of 18.64%. The school’s Gifted and Talented program has improved to the 73rd percentile, showing that targeted support can work, but the gap for low-SES students remains a pressing issue.

Reilly has a favorable student-teacher ratio of 13.9:1 and slightly above-average per-student spending, and it excels in 5th Grade Science with 53.13% proficiency, nearly double the state average. Its dramatic rise from the 45th percentile in 2020-2021 to the 95th percentile in 2024-2025 demonstrates strong leadership and effective programs for many students, but the school’s future depends on closing the achievement gap for its most vulnerable learners. For parents, Reilly offers a high-quality education for many, but those with Spanish-speaking or low-income children should investigate the support systems in place to ensure their child thrives.

Open Quote On it's way to Excellent. This school did go through a rough patch but with it's new administration there have been many positive changes and several newly implemented programs and re-vamped programs will only make the school better. I live in the neighborhood and hope to see more of our neighbors' children attending Reilly in the years to come. Close Quote

Open Quote My son is white, and he loves this school. He's in a dual-language program there, and the new principal, Ms. Saenz, is fantastic. We are a high-income family that bought a house in the neighborhood and are committed to our neighborhood school. Close Quote
