St Andrew's-Sewanee School

I went to SAS in the late Nineties. At that time, the school was very xenophobic and discriminatory against foreign students. SAS limited the freedom of foreign students. SAS prohibited foreign students to use their native languages, and to become friends with each other. SAS even try to separate the friendship between foreign students. This totally doesn't make sense. SAS was bullying non-English speaking foreigners by prohibiting the use of their native languages. If this kind of thing happens in my home country, it will be considered as violation of human rights.

It is natural that foreigners become friends with each other and use their native languages when they meet outside their home countries. White Americans living in my home country are always using English, but of course, nobody hates or harasses those white Americans for using English, or being friends with each other. SAS had such an insane policy of treating foreign students. When I was a student there, I always felt as if I were a slave of the school.

Also, the size of the school was so small that the atmosphere was closed and cliquish. The location was too isolated and too inconvenient. The majority forced their values on others. In addition to the discrimination against foreigners, the environment also made foreigners' lives hard. There were just too little freedom and fun for foreigners.

SAS is not a right place for minorities especially someone who is from outside the U.S. and is not a native English speaker. I definitely would not recommend this school for non-English speaking people.
