Summary

Ravenwood High School is a large, high-performing public high school in Brentwood, Tennessee, serving 1,975 students in grades 9–12 as part of Williamson County Schools. Ravenwood ranks 7th out of 400 Tennessee high schools for 2025–2026, placing it in the 98th percentile statewide. It has been remarkably consistent at the top of state rankings, finishing 5th in the state for the past three consecutive years and claiming the #1 spot in Tennessee in 2016–2017 — a stunning turnaround from a 105th-place finish just one year earlier.

Ravenwood outperforms every nearby comparison school in state ranking, including Franklin High School (11th), Renaissance High School (13th), Brentwood High School (16th), Fred J Page High School (18th), Nolensville High School (23rd), and Centennial High School (59th). Its proficiency rates are dramatically above state averages in nearly every subject: Algebra II proficiency stands at 87.4% compared to 37.3% statewide, Biology at 84.6% versus 49.8%, and US History at 80.3% versus 42.4%. Ravenwood also leads its closest geographic competitor, Brentwood High School, in most subjects — including US History (80.3% versus 49.1%), Geometry (83.8% versus 75.0%), and Algebra II (87.4% versus 78.4%).

What truly sets Ravenwood apart is its results across every group of students. The school earns 5-star ratings for nearly all reported subgroups, with special education students ranking 3rd statewide, Hispanic students 9th, and low socioeconomic status students 6th. Its graduation rate is 96.0%, well above the state's 90.5%, and per-pupil spending of $11,246 is the lowest among traditional Williamson County high schools. The main areas to watch are chronic absenteeism at 13.1% — nearly double the district's 7.4% — and Algebra I proficiency (56.8%) that trails the district average (62.7%). These are manageable concerns within an otherwise outstanding school profile.

Open Quote Claims of being a "top-rated" school are not supported by intangible factors. Leadership is weak and many teachers are mediocre. School caters to high-performing students and is relatively indifferent with respect to average, typical students. School does very little to support students with disabilities. Close Quote
