Northfield Elementary School in Sparta, TN, serves 288 students in grades PK-5 as part of White County Schools. In the latest state ranking, Northfield placed 318th out of 1,019 Tennessee elementary schools (69th percentile, 3 stars) — a notable step back from the previous year's 82nd percentile ranking. Despite the dip, the school remains above state averages in math, ELA, and science, and its strongest asset is attendance: just 6.8% of students were chronically absent in 2024–2025, half the district rate and about one-third the state rate. Among nearby schools, only Capshaw Elementary School matched that rate; Sycamore Elementary School and Cane Creek Elementary School were close to 20%.
