Oakland High School is a large public high school in Murfreesboro, TN, serving 1,872 students in grades 9–12 as part of Rutherford County Schools. The school currently holds a 4-star rating and ranks 91st out of 400 Tennessee high schools (77th percentile) for 2025–2026, placing it in the upper quarter of schools statewide. Within Rutherford County's traditional high schools, however, Oakland sits in the middle of the pack: Blackman High School, Rockvale High School, Siegel High School, and Riverdale High School all rank higher, while Smyrna High School and Holloway High School rank below. The school has climbed from the 47th percentile in 2016–2017 to the 83rd percentile in 2024–2025, a major improvement over the past decade.

Academically, Oakland's strengths are in science, history, and English. Biology I proficiency (62.9%) exceeds both district and state averages, and 10th-grade U.S. History came in at a strong 71.4% proficiency. English I also outpaces the state by a wide margin.
