Tellico Plains High School is a small rural high school in the southern end of Monroe County, Tennessee, serving 435 students in grades 9–12 near the Cherokee National Forest. It is part of Monroe County Schools, a district ranked in the bottom 13% of Tennessee districts. The school holds a state ranking of 245th out of 400 high schools (39th percentile), making it the top traditional high school in a struggling district — but it trails nearby Central High School (72nd percentile) and McMinn High School (56th percentile) across the county line.

The school's clearest strengths are in keeping students on track to graduate. Tellico Plains High School graduates 95.4% of its students, well above the state rate of 90.5%, with a dropout rate of just 2.8% compared to the district's 6.9%. Only Sweetwater High School posts similar numbers.
