Summary

New Prospect Elementary School is a PK–8 public school in Lawrenceburg, TN, serving 417 students as part of Lawrence County Schools, and it has climbed from the 51st to the 74th percentile in state rankings since 2022–23, currently holding a 4-star rating and ranking 266th of 1,019 Tennessee schools. The school outperforms both its district and the state average in every tested subject: math proficiency is 54.4% versus 43.0% statewide, ELA is 50.8% versus 40.6%, science is 52.5% versus 46.9%, and social studies is 61.4% versus 51.4%.

Perhaps the school's most striking asset is attendance. Only 7.6% of students were chronically absent in 2024–25, compared with 14.5% districtwide and 18.3% statewide — and the rate has stayed below 10% for years. Nearby schools such as Ingram Sowell Elementary School (26.4%) and Leoma Elementary School (18.8%) have far higher absenteeism. Early elementary performance is also excellent: 3rd grade math proficiency is 72.7% and 3rd grade ELA is 69.1%, both well above state averages. Social studies is an unusual strength at 61.4% proficiency, including an exceptional 83.3% in 7th grade. And the school is especially effective with economically disadvantaged students, whose results ranked in the 82nd–90th percentile statewide over the past two years.

Compared with nearby schools, New Prospect outperforms most of them in nearly every subject, including Leoma Elementary School, David Crockett Elementary School, and Ingram Sowell Elementary School. It also beats all Giles County Schools in the area, such as Richland Elementary School, Minor Hill School, and Southside Elementary School. Lawrenceburg Public School leads in math and ELA, and Ethridge Elementary School edges out New Prospect in a few subjects, but New Prospect tops both in social studies. The clearest improvement opportunity is middle school: 8th grade ELA proficiency sits at just 29.5% (below the state's 32.3%), and 6th grade social studies is 34.1%, even though 7th grade results are strong across the board. At $11,867 per student, New Prospect also spends less than many lower-performing peers like Pulaski Elementary School ($15,999) and Minor Hill School ($18,328), reflecting efficient use of resources. Overall, it is a strong, improving school whose main challenge is carrying its early-elementary success through the middle grades.
