Bolivar Middle School serves 290 students in grades 6–8 in Bolivar, Tennessee, as part of Hardeman County Schools. The school has also made meaningful progress for African American students, whose subgroup ranking rose from the 8th to the 25th percentile over two years, and for low-income students, who improved from the 4th to the 12th percentile. Per-pupil spending has increased to $13,684, and the student-teacher ratio is a moderate 12.9:1. Yet despite these resources, achievement remains roughly 20–30 points behind state averages. With attendance improving and some subgroups trending upward, Bolivar Middle School may be at a turning point — but sustained academic gains have not yet materialized.
