Summary:

The Knox County school district in Tennessee is home to 16 middle schools serving students in grades 5-8. The district is ranked 77 out of 139 districts in the state and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger. While the district as a whole has room for improvement, a few standout schools in the area are consistently among the top performers in the state.

Farragut Middle School is a shining example, consistently ranking among the top middle schools in Tennessee with a 5-star rating. It has the highest test scores in the district across all subjects and grade levels, significantly outperforming the county and state averages. Other high-achieving schools include West Valley Middle School, ranked 35th in the state with a 5-star rating, and Hardin Valley Middle School, ranked 46th and also with a 5-star rating.

In contrast, there is a significant performance gap between these top-tier schools and some of the lower-performing middle schools in the Knox County district. For example, Vine Middle/Magnet has much lower test scores across all subjects compared to the other schools.
