Open Quote Jennie Moore has been a wonderful environment for our family. The arts enrichment programs are top-notch, without compromising the core curriculum. I love the knowledge my children bring home every day, be it how to color better, how to add and subtract large numbers on the fly, or descriptions of Picasso's art or Hendrix's "The Star Spangled Banner". The teachers genuinely love their children and strive to help them succeed academically and socially. The relatively small class sizes (at least in first grade; unsure of other grades) are appreciated. The principal knows the children and parents by name and has a seemingly endless amount of energy and drive to make the school both inspiring and exciting. The PTA is strong and vibrant, which strengthens the overall feeling of community here. The new building, which opened in 2015, is beautiful, but parking has been an issue that I hope can be addressed soon. Nonetheless, I am so happy with our time thus far at Jennie Moore and I look forward to many more years there as our children move through the school. Close Quote

Open Quote The new school building is beautiful and principal, teacher and staff try their best, but: its simply a big machine now. With almost 1.300 students, JME lost the warm, friendly and personal atmosphere. The student/teacher ratio given on this page, must be from years ago, as in most classes there are 26 and more children (we counted the JME phone book, simple math...). Expect quite a good amount of homework to be send home, as teachers have to push through subjects. We are fortunate, our kids have been doing very well, but we see friends struggling because of the big classes and lack of time to support some of them when needed. There is no Spanish - only every other semester, because of the amount of classes/students now and lack of teachers, same with Drama, Art and Music. The title "School for the Creative Arts" is a bit over the top, as there is simply nothing different to other schools in the "Creative" area. We have 2 kids in JME for several years and we are glad we will be moving on to other schools soon. Certainly school buses do not fall under the responsibility of the schools, but they are overcrowded, too. Kids get kicked off buses and left behind (happened to Laing Middle School several times!!). As they cannot kick off from Elementary bus, kids have to sit 4 in a row or take little ones on the lap... ! Parents have complained multiple times to the city, school and school authorities, nothing happens. ... This is the future for public schools in Mount Pleasant. Close Quote
