Brown Avenue School is an elementary school in Johnston, Rhode Island, serving grades 1–5 with 251 students. In 2025–26, proficiency was 28% in ELA, 30% in math and 23% in science—below Rhode Island’s 33%, 32% and 31%, respectively, and below nearby-school averages of 35%, 35% and 33%. Science is the clearest concern: Brown was 8 percentage points below the state and 10 points below nearby schools, its largest shortfall in either comparison.
