Narragansett

Narragansett, Rhode Island, has three public schools serving students from prekindergarten through grade 12: Narragansett Elementary (PK–4), Narragansett Pier School (grades 5–8), and Narragansett High School (grades 9–12). Their reported 2025–26 test results are above the state benchmark, though the size of the advantage varies by school, subject, and grade. The clearest overall takeaway is that all three schools are above their corresponding state benchmarks in every reported subject.

Narragansett Elementary stands out in mathematics: its 78.4% proficiency is 46.5 percentage points above the state’s 31.9%, the largest all-grades gap reported. Narragansett High School stands out for graduation, at 99.0% versus 85.5% statewide; its grade-11 SAT results are also well above state levels, with gaps of 32.8 points in mathematics and 29.2 in ELA. Narragansett Pier School has the smallest all-grades mathematics advantage of the three, at 16.2 points, but remains above the state in mathematics, ELA (+20.9), and science (+17.7). Its grade-level results vary: sixth-grade ELA is 39.3 points above the state, compared with 7.8 points in eighth grade.

Recent changes are mixed rather than showing a single upward or downward trend. From the prior year, Elementary mathematics rose 5.8 points while ELA fell 3.3; Pier’s ELA, mathematics, and science each declined by 1.5 to 1.9 points. At High, SAT mathematics improved 4.1 points, but SAT ELA fell 5.6; PSAT10 results also declined in both subjects. SchoolDigger ranks Elementary at the 93rd statewide percentile, High at the 86th, and Pier at the 82nd; since 2023–24, those percentiles shifted by −5, −1, and +4, respectively. Reported student–teacher ratios range from 8.6 at High to 13.1 at Pier, while free/reduced-lunch rates range from 23.92% to 30.04%; these describe different school contexts, not explanations for results. Because the schools serve different grades and report different assessments, their raw scores are not direct head-to-head comparisons.
