Elementary Schools in Glocester

Glocester has two elementary schools serving overlapping grades: Fogarty Memorial serves K–5, and West Glocester Elementary serves PK–5. In 2025–26, both schools had higher all-grades proficiency than Rhode Island overall in ELA, math, and science. The clearest area strength is science: the schools averaged 66.55% proficient, compared with 31.1% statewide, driven especially by West Glocester’s 80% result.

Fogarty Memorial leads the overall comparison in ELA and math, with 47% proficient in ELA and 55% in math, versus 44.4% and 42.6% at West Glocester Elementary. The schools’ largest all-grades gap is in science, where West Glocester leads Fogarty by 26.9 percentage points; Fogarty leads by 12.4 points in math. Grade results tell a more mixed story: Fogarty leads in grades 3 and 4 in both ELA and math, while West Glocester leads in grade 5 in both. The sharpest grade-level gap is grade 3 math, where Fogarty scores 51.2% and West Glocester 17.1%. Recent results show declines in ELA and math at both schools, but science moved in opposite directions. From 2024–25 to 2025–26, Fogarty’s ELA and math results fell 4.7 and 11.9 points, while West Glocester’s fell 10.4 and 13 points; science fell 7.9 points at Fogarty and rose 8.6 at West Glocester.
