Summary

Burgettstown Middle School/High School is a public school serving grades 6-12 in the Burgettstown Area School District in Pennsylvania. With 518 students, the school has consistently ranked in the bottom half of Pennsylvania high schools over the past decade, indicating persistent challenges in academic achievement.

Burgettstown's academic performance is generally below state and district averages, with proficiency rates in Math (31%) and English Language Arts (49.2%) lower than the state (41.7% and 48.5%) and district (43.6% and 48.5%) averages. The school's performance on Keystone Exams is also below nearby schools, such as South Fayette High School and Moon Area Senior High School, which have significantly higher proficiency rates. However, Burgettstown's graduation and dropout rates are generally in line with state and nearby school averages.

The school's higher percentage of low socioeconomic status students (35.17% to 39.58%) compared to the state average may be a contributing factor to its lower academic performance. With a relatively low student-teacher ratio, Burgettstown may have opportunities to provide more individualized attention and support for students. Exploring best practices from higher-performing nearby schools could also provide insights for Burgettstown to improve its academic outcomes.

Open Quote a one star is too good for this school. i graduated 10 years ago and have friends with kids in this school and sadly, they are using the same teaching styles. i was not impressed with this school at all and am so glad my children do not attend there. Close Quote
