Open Quote This could be a really good school, and could be better if the politics were taken out. In my history class, I was only taught what the teacher WANTED to teach, not what we actually needed. The only part of the class I actually recall anything useful is learning about colonialism in Africa and south Asia for two weeks and about a month of learning about genocides. We never learned any good points about our own country, but they only seemed to attack our country's reputation from within the classroom. It was always "This is the bad point about our country; this is how we didn't help this country; this is why all other countries don't like us."

Also, if taking a French or Latin, it is difficult to take as the resources were not available. The books that we used were old because the school would not buy newer ones for the French class. I believe the copyright date in the book I had used had been sometime in the 1980s. Also, the French 3 and 4 classes were put together with the Latin 3 and 4 during the same periods, which makes two conflicting languages being taught not only difficult for the students, but for the teacher as well.

Also, in the math class I took this year, the teacher only really taught us for about half the year. In the second semester, they told us to more or less teach ourselves. I know of a period of about three weeks where they did not show us a single practice problem. During the last marking period, we were told that we had to be finished at a certain chapter by the end of the year, and if not it would impact our grade, as he graded partially on our completion of that ending chapter.

One good thing I can say is that the 10th grade English teacher is wonderful. Granted, it was extremely difficult, but it was well worth it. He prepared us more for the future than any other teacher I've had. He was willing to stay after school with us and never hesitated to give us a pass for free period if we needed help with our work.

If it helps, this all occurred during my 2012-2013 school year. Close Quote
