Brookings-Harbor High School

Brookings-Harbor High School is the only high school serving Brookings, a coastal community in Curry County in Oregon's far southwest corner, enrolling roughly 422 students in grades 9–12 — and with no other school within 20 miles, it is the sole local option for families.

Because it is the district's only high school, its results and those of Brookings-Harbor School District 17C are essentially identical, so the state is the more useful comparison point. In 11th-grade English language arts, students score 44.6%, in line with Oregon's 46.0%. Math is the clear outlier at 9.1% proficiency versus the state's 22.9%, and science sits at 18.3% against 33.8% statewide. One number to read carefully: the reported free/reduced-price lunch rate jumped from 35.49% to 89.1% in two years, which far more likely reflects a change in how meal eligibility is counted than a real shift in family economics.
