Summary

Springer High School is a public high school located in Springer, Oklahoma, serving grades 9-12 with a total enrollment of 61 students. The school is part of the Springer School District, which is ranked 300 out of 452 districts in Oklahoma and has a 2-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Academically, Springer High School has consistently underperformed compared to the state average on standardized tests. In the 2024-2025 school year, only 27% of 11th-grade students were proficient or better in English Language Arts, compared to the state average of 37%. In mathematics, only 12% of 11th-grade students were proficient or better, compared to the state average of 18%. The school's performance in science is particularly concerning, with only 6% of 11th-grade students being proficient or better, compared to the state average of 21%. Additionally, the school's four-year graduation rate has fluctuated, ranging from 81.1% to 87.5% in recent years, which is lower than the performance of some nearby schools, such as Sulphur High School, which had an 82.2% four-year graduation rate in 2023-2024.

One potential factor contributing to Springer High School's academic challenges is the high percentage of students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, with 88.52% of students qualifying for free or reduced-price lunch in the 2023-2024 school year. This is significantly higher than the state average and the nearby schools, which range from 41.75% to 79.65% free or reduced-price lunch recipients. Additionally, the school has experienced high rates of chronic absenteeism, ranging from 1.8% to 21.2% in recent years, which may also be contributing to the school's academic underperformance. Despite these challenges, the school's relatively small size and low student-teacher ratio (11.4 in 2023-2024) could potentially allow for more personalized attention and targeted interventions to address the academic needs of the students.

Open Quote Just a really terrible school. The Administration doesn't care about the students what so ever and the curriculum is not what it should be. As a graduate of this school I would NOT recommend sending your child/children to this school. Close Quote
