Summary:

In this small Oklahoma community, two schools serve 387 students: Porum Elementary School enrolls 270 students in PK–8, and Porum High School enrolls 117 in grades 9–12. Their latest results vary by subject, but the clearest recent trend is the high school’s broad improvement: from 2024–2025 to 2025–2026, its results rose 10 points in ELA I, 14 in math, 21 in science and 8 in U.S. History, narrowing its gap with the state in all four subjects.

The schools stand out in different areas. In 2025–2026, the high school led All Grades ELA I with 37%, compared with 17% at the elementary school and 26% statewide. The elementary school led in math, at 27% versus 17% at the high school and 25% statewide, and in science, at 37% versus 31% and 30%. U.S. History is a notable high-school weakness: 31% proficiency was 10 points below the state’s 41%. Grade-level results also differ: elementary third-grade math was 55%, 22 points above the state, while eighth-grade ELA I was 7%, 13 points below. SchoolDigger ranks the high school at the 65th percentile and the elementary school at the 54th percentile for 2025–2026.

Elementary results improved most in science, rising 13 points to 37%; math rose 2 points to 27%, while ELA I remained at 17%, 9 points below the state. The high school’s gains are encouraging, but its 2024–2025 graduation rate was 64%, compared with 78% statewide. Context differs, too: the elementary student–teacher ratio was 12.4, versus 10.4 at the high school; free/reduced lunch eligible rates in 2024–2025 were 80% and 75%, respectively. Chronic absenteeism was below the state rate at both schools: 3% at the elementary school and 7% at the high school, versus 16% statewide. Because the schools serve different grade spans, All Grades results are descriptive rather than like-for-like comparisons.
