Gore

Gore Elementary School (PK–5), Gore Upper Elementary School (grades 6–8), and Gore High School (grades 9–12) serve 470 students across three schools in Gore. In 2025–2026, all three schools’ average science proficiency was 51%, compared with 30% statewide; math averaged 32% and ELA 30%, also above state results of 25% and 26%. Those averages conceal meaningful differences between schools and subjects. The most important area-wide finding is that science is the strongest subject relative to the state, but results vary considerably by school.

Gore Elementary led all-grades math at 37% and science at 65%, respectively 12 and 35 percentage points above state results. Gore High led ELA at 42%, 16 points above the state, and was the only school with a reported U.S. History result: 52%, versus 41% statewide. At the lower end, Gore Upper Elementary had the lowest ELA result, 17%, 9 points below the state; Gore High had the lowest math result at 25%, equal to the state. All-grades results cover different grade spans, so these school-to-school comparisons are not comparisons of students in the same grades.

Recent changes were mixed, with average ELA proficiency across the schools falling from 36% to 30% and math from 39% to 32% between 2024–2025 and 2025–2026. The largest individual change was Gore Elementary’s 20-point math decline, from 57% to 37%; meanwhile, Gore High’s science rose 10 points, while Gore Upper Elementary’s fell 14. SchoolDigger ranked Gore High at the 89th statewide percentile and the other two schools at the 73rd in 2025–2026. In 2024–2025, student-teacher ratios ranged from 11.9 at the high school to 17.2 at the upper elementary school; free/reduced lunch eligible figures that year ranged from 60% to 70%. These are context, not explanations of achievement. Chronic absenteeism in 2025–2026 was 3% at the elementary school and 0% at the other schools, below the state’s 16%; the high school graduation rate was 77%, compared with 78% statewide.
