Summary:

Zip code 43232 in Columbus, Ohio is home to four high schools enrolling a combined 1,660 students: Independence High School, Arts & College Preparatory Academy, Focus Learning Academy of Southeastern Columbus, and Capital City Career Prep High School. Three serve grades 9–12, while Arts & College Preparatory Academy serves grades 7–12, so its data includes middle-school grades. Independence is part of Columbus City Schools District; the other three operate as their own districts. Enrollment ranges from 93 students at Capital City to 852 at Independence, and student-teacher ratios span 13.2 to 27.2.

Arts & College Preparatory Academy is the clear standout and the only school here with broadly competitive results. Its graduation rate is 98.9%, and its chronic absenteeism, 50.6%, is far lower than the other three. It exceeded the state in five of six 2024–2025 End-of-Course subjects, including American Government (89.4% vs. 72.6%) and American History (81.7% vs. 71.2%), with Algebra I (42.0% vs. 59.4%) the exception. Its middle-school math is very weak, however — 8th grade math was just 4.5% in 2025–2026. It also had the best rank history, reaching the 59th percentile in 2023–2024.

The other three schools face significant challenges. Independence High School is the largest school but scored below the state in all six EOC subjects, with Geometry at 10.8% and Algebra I at 11.1%, alongside a 78.1% graduation rate and 78.3% chronic absenteeism. Focus Learning Academy of Southeastern Columbus has the lowest graduation rate at 7.1% and 96.9% chronic absenteeism. Capital City Career Prep High School has the highest chronic absenteeism at 99.7% and very low test scores, such as Geometry at 5.0%. Free/reduced lunch is reported only for Arts (51.59%), and spending is available only for Independence ($10,987) and Arts ($6,347) for 2018–2019, so family income and spending context is limited for the rest.
