Pathfinder Career Academy of Ohio is a stand-alone public career and online-model school in Columbus, Ohio, serving grades 6–12 with 442 students; because it operates as its own district, its school and district rankings are essentially the same. On Ohio's 2025-26 composite rankings it places 780th out of 795 schools — the bottom 2–3% of the state — and carries a 0-star rating. Nearly all of its comparison schools sit 2–4 miles away in the Cleveland area; the exception is Gateway Online Academy of Ohio, which shares Pathfinder's exact street address.

Achievement is the school's clearest weakness. Pathfinder posts the lowest proficiency of the seven schools compared in five of six high-school End-of-Course subjects: American Government 43.5%, American History 29.9%, Biology 16.6%, English II 14.6%, Algebra I 11.0%, and Geometry 6.3% — against a state average near 60%. Middle-school results follow the same pattern: 6th-grade math 8.3%, 7th-grade math 12.2%, and 8th-grade math 16.7%. The distance to nearby high performers is large: Independence High School's English II proficiency is 86.8%, roughly six times Pathfinder's, and Cuyahoga Hts High School's Algebra I is 89.2%, about eight times higher. Every group of students measured lands between the 1st and 8th percentile statewide, so no single population drives the results.

Attendance is the surprise bright spot. Pathfinder's chronic absenteeism rate is 16.5% — third lowest of the ten schools compared and roughly one-third the 53.6% at co-located Gateway Online Academy of Ohio. The trend, though, is worsening: 5.3% in 2023-24, 9.2% in 2024-25, and 16.5% in 2025-26. Academically there are small gains: average proficiency across 13 tested areas rose from about 16.6% to about 20.3%, improving in 10 areas, though English II fell from 25.6% to 14.6%. Note the data gaps — free/reduced lunch, per-student spending, and graduation rate are not reported for Pathfinder, making it hard to interpret why outcomes look as they do.
