Summary

Pickerington High School Central is a large 9–12 comprehensive high school at 300 Opportunity Way in Pickerington, Ohio, serving 1,711 students as one of two comprehensive high schools in Pickerington Local. In 2025–2026 it ranked 460th of 795 Ohio high schools — 42nd percentile, two stars — which is below its district's own standing and well below Pickerington High School North, a school of similar size (1,761 students) about 2.5 miles away that ranks in the 75th percentile with four stars.

Central's test results sit above the state average in four of six subjects but below its own district in all six. Math is the clearest weak point, and it is not a one-year blip: Geometry proficiency was 43.4% against a district rate of 56.6%, and Algebra I was 63.9% against 78.0%, with similar gaps over four years. The comparison with North is the most striking finding here — North outperforms Central in every tested subject by roughly 11 points on average, even though the two schools have nearly identical graduation rates, class sizes, and per-pupil spending. Chronic absenteeism, at about one in three students (33.9%), rose 5.5 points this year after three years of improvement.

On the positive side, 97.5% of students graduate — second in the area only to Bloom-Carroll High School and Canal Winchester High School — and attendance, while high in absolute terms, is far better than at Reynoldsburg High School, SWL Digital Academy, Pickerington Academy, or Independence High School. The school's most consistent instructional strength is with English learners, who rank in the top quarter of schools statewide and have improved steadily for three years. Overall, Central is a mid-pack school that gets students across the finish line, tests above the state but below its district, and has the most ground to gain in mathematics.
