Briar Middle School at 3700 South Ave in Sandusky, OH, is the only middle school in Perkins Local, serving 413 students in grades 6–8 in a district that sits next to — but is entirely separate from — Sandusky City schools. Briar currently ranks 412 of 1,046 Ohio middle schools (61st percentile, 3 stars), while its district ranks 332 of 773.

Its standout strength is attendance: chronic absenteeism fell to 8.7% in 2025–26, down from 13.3% the year before, the lowest of any nearby school, and 3.2 points better than its own district's 11.9%.
