Summary

Olmsted Falls Intermediate Building is a grades 4–5 school at 27043 Bagley Rd in Olmsted Falls, Ohio, serving 507 students as the middle link in the Olmsted Falls City district's three-building elementary pipeline, sitting between Falls-Lenox Primary Elementary School (grades 1–3) and Olmsted Falls Early Childhood Center (PK–K). In 2025–2026 it ranked 422nd of 1,560 Ohio elementaries (73rd percentile, 4 stars) and scored above the state average in every subject and grade tested — strong on paper, though this is a step down from the 86th–92nd percentile range it held from 2015–16 through 2023–24.

Its clearest academic strength is fifth-grade math, where 77.8% of students were proficient against 59.1% statewide — nearly 19 points higher, and 11.3 points above Pine Intermediate School, the closest peer in grades and size. Fifth-grade science (69.4% vs. 62.7% statewide) is also solid. Attendance is the standout trend: chronic absenteeism has fallen to 9.9%, better than the district's 14.2%, better than nearly every nearby school, and about 5 points better than Pine. Grade 4 is the softer half of the building — it trails Pine in both fourth-grade math and fourth-grade ELA.

Two things are worth watching. First, class size: at 19.6 students per teacher, the school runs larger classes than Surrarrer Elementary School (14.8), Copopa Elementary School (16.9) and Chestnut Elementary School (17.3), and Surrarrer posts the strongest results in the comparison group at essentially the same per-student spending. Second, the share of students from low-income families rose from 16.22% in 2022–23 to 28.01% in 2024–25, and that subgroup's results have swung widely. Also note that the reported 100% sixth-grade math proficiency reflects a very small accelerated group, not the building as a whole, and the spending figures date to 2018–19.
