On 2025-26 Ohio State Tests, results were close to state average overall but uneven by grade and subject, with sixth-grade math standing out and fifth-grade math a persistent weakness.

Sixth-grade math is the clear bright spot: 69.1% proficient versus the state's 56.2%, up nearly 20 points from 49.4% the prior year — though the two years before that were below state, so it is too soon to call it a turnaround. That beats Sidney Middle School, Milton-Union Middle School, and Van Cleve Elementary School, but trails Versailles Middle School, Miami East Junior High School, Tippecanoe Middle School, Covington Middle School, and Graham Middle School. Fifth-grade math has been below state every year shown, at 56.0% in 2025-26 versus 59.1% statewide. English language arts is close to state but not a standout, with ELA 6 at 55.3% against 56.0% statewide.

Chronic absenteeism improved from 32.0% in 2021-22 to 21.6% in 2025-26 and is consistently below the district average, but that still means more than one in five students are chronically absent — far above nearby Versailles (1.5%), Tippecanoe (5.4%), and Miami East (5.8%), while similar to Troy Junior High School, Graham Middle School, and Piqua Junior High School. The student-teacher ratio improved from 20.0 in 2022-23 to 17.4, moderate among nearby schools. Per-student spending was $9,441 in 2018-19, higher than most nearby schools but historical context only.
