Summary

Ellet Community Learning Center is a grades 9–12 neighborhood high school at 309 Woolf Ave in Akron, Ohio, serving about 860 students as part of the Akron City district, which is rated 1 star and ranks 643rd of 773 Ohio districts (17th percentile). In 2025–2026, Ellet ranked 684th of 795 Ohio high schools (14th percentile, 1 star) — the lowest position in the ten years of history available. The school has never risen above the 32nd percentile in that span, and its performance has been flat-and-low rather than steadily improving or declining.

The clearest strength is graduation: 96.4% of students graduate, above the district's 90.3%, fourth-best among 11 nearby high schools, and up 8.1 points over four years. The largest concern is chronic absenteeism: 53.2% of students were chronically absent in 2025–2026. That is a five-year low, but it remains 12.3 points worse than the district and roughly 2.5 times the rate at Tallmadge High School (20.7%) and Mogadore High School (23.8%). Test proficiency is similar: Ellet's average across six tested subjects is 41.5%, versus 43.5% for the district and 63.2% statewide, with Geometry the deepest hole at 15%. Between 2024–2025 and 2025–2026, every tested subject and every reported student group declined.

Within Akron City, Ellet is a mid-tier comprehensive high school. It leads Garfield Community Learning Center and East Community Learning Center in most subjects, but trails National Inventors Hall of Fame STEM High School at Robinson CLC and Akron Early College High School. Neighboring suburban and adjacent districts — Springfield Junior/Senior High School, Mogadore High School and Tallmadge High School — beat Ellet in all six subjects. Still, its 2024–2025 results show better outcomes are attainable here: special education students reached the 65th percentile (3 stars) that year, while gifted and talented students remain the weakest-served group at the 7th percentile (0 stars).
