Summary:
Springfield Local serves about 3,187 students across six schools — four elementary, one middle and one high school — spanning grades PK through 12. District-wide it ranks 470th of 773 (39th percentile, 2 stars), but that single figure masks wide school-to-school variation, from 32nd percentile at Holland Intermediate School to 55th percentile at Springfield Middle School.
Springfield Middle School (761 students, 55th percentile, 3 stars) is the current academic standout. In 2025–2026 it posted 100% proficiency in Algebra I versus 71.4% district and 61.6% state, plus 70% in 8th grade math and 71.9% in 8th grade science. Its weaker areas are 6th and 7th grade math (46.1% and 43.3%) and 6th grade ELA (46.9%), all below state. Springfield High School (875 students, 47th percentile) improved in five of six End of Course subjects, led by American History at 80.3%; English II, at 61.4%, is its only subject slightly below state. Graduation rate is 93.0%, but chronic absenteeism is 27.0%.
Elementary results differ by school and subject. Holloway Elementary School leads 3rd grade math at 65.8% (above the state's 62.1%) and has the lowest chronic absenteeism at 13.4%, while Crissey Elementary School leads 3rd grade ELA at 62.2%. Dorr Street Elementary School trails in both (44.4% math, 52.1% ELA) and has the highest absenteeism at 27.4%. Holland Intermediate School's 5th grade math of 33.7% is the lowest current result in this data, far below the state's 59.1%. Absenteeism generally tracks with outcomes, though the middle school performs well despite 25.0% absenteeism and an 89.62% free/reduced-lunch rate. Per-student spending from 2018–2019 shows no simple link to results — Dorr Street spends the most yet trails in 3rd grade. Holland Intermediate's free/reduced-lunch figure is unknown, not zero.
