High Schools in Lima City

Lima City has just one public high school: Lima Senior High School, a grades 9–12 building at 1 Spartan Way serving 1,004 students as part of the Lima City district. Because it is the only school, every school-level figure is the entire high-school picture for the city — though district figures cover all grade levels, so they are not a perfect match for a 9–12 building.

The school holds a 1-star rating and has ranked in the bottom quarter of Ohio high schools for three straight years, slipping from the 25th percentile (648 of 864) to the 17th (711 of 855) to the 12th (702 of 795), even though its raw rank number improved in the latest year. Proficiency trails the state in every subject in both reported years, averaging 33.2% rising to 37.4% against a state average of 62.0% rising to 63.2%. The narrowest gap is American Government (−13.8 points); the widest is Algebra I (−36.1). Geometry is lowest at 14% proficient, meaning roughly 86% of test-takers fell short. The encouraging news is genuine improvement in the weakest areas: proficiency rose in five of six subjects, with Biology up 12.1 points (25.5% to 37.6%) and Algebra I up 9.8 points (15.7% to 25.5%), both far outpacing state gains. American Government slipped 2.5 points, and the growth so far has not been fast enough to change the school's relative standing.
