As you review the school rankings data, please be aware that some of the information from certain demographics is missing. The reason for this omission is that the data has been redacted from the source data itself due to low population samples in these specific demographic groups.

Redacting data from low population samples is a necessary step to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the results, as small sample sizes may not be representative of the broader population. Additionally, this measure helps protect the privacy of individuals belonging to these demographic groups.

Open Quote As an ex-Lansing student, I can see the values of Lansing High. The education system is great, some of the best in New York. Bullying is barely an issue in comparison to most of the other local districts, but that is where the positives of Lansing end. Besides those, you will find yourself in a grueling, impersonal system with virtually no group interactions and uninteresting teachers. To be clear, most of the teachers are "nice," but give boring classes . It would be unfair not to say that this is not majorly due to the state of the Common Core-dictated system, but few try to make their classes intriguing. This is also influenced by the complete lack of positive student-teacher relationships. After spending my time at Lansing, I realized that I knew absolutely nothing about my educators with a few exceptions. The school's community is also close to non-existent, due to the lack of group work and encouraged interactions. All of this creates an unenjoyable high school experience with nearing unmanageable levels of work in order to achieve a premium education. The one thing Lansing High School is great at is making calculators, but if that's all you need from a high school, then don't waste a second thought. Always remember that their are other options.
P.S. The same can not be said about Lansing Middle School, which I loved being a part of.
Sincerely, a New Roots Charter School student. Close Quote

Open Quote Lansing is an amazing school!!! The education is top notch. There is a great deal of economic diversity in Lansing which is great. Wealthier families are drawn to the great school system. This is good for all. Wealthier families mean more money to fund great education. Close Quote

About Students eligible for discounted/free lunch:

The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) provides low-cost or free meals to students in U.S. public and nonprofit private schools based on household income. Those with incomes below 130% of the poverty line receive free lunch, while those between 130% and 185% qualify for reduced-price lunch. The percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch serves as a marker for poverty, as it reflects the socioeconomic status of families in a given school or district. A higher FRPL rate typically indicates a higher concentration of low-income families, suggesting that the school or district may face additional challenges in providing adequate resources and support for student success.

About Student-Teacher Ratio

Student/teacher ratio is calculated by dividing the total number of students by the total number of full-time equivalent teachers. Please note that a smaller student/teacher ratio does not necessarily translate to smaller class size. In some instances, schools hire teachers part time, and some teachers are hired for specialized instruction with very small class sizes. These and other factors contribute to the student/teacher ratio. Note: For private schools, Student/teacher ratio may not include Pre-Kindergarten.
