Cornerstone Academy's academic performance, as measured by state assessments, is generally lower than the district and state averages across various subjects and grade levels. For example, in the 2024-2025 school year, the percentage of students proficient or better in ELA ranged from 19.35% to 45.61%, compared to the district's 44.03%-52.24% and the state's 50.86%-52.38%. The school's performance on Regents exams, such as Algebra I and Living Environment, also lags behind the district and state.

Cornerstone Academy's performance varies across different student subgroups, with African American students generally performing better than the overall school, but male students, special education students, and homeless students performing significantly worse. The school's per-student spending has increased significantly in recent years, from $18,616 in 2020-2021 to $45,327 in 2023-2024, which is higher than the spending at many nearby schools, such as North Bronx School Of Empowerment, Leaders Of Tomorrow, and Bronx Alliance Middle School. However, the school's overall academic performance remains below the district and state averages, raising questions about the effectiveness of how these resources are being utilized to support student learning.

Open Quote My daughter is starting her first year there and I am so unhappy. In their website, I was under the impression that my daughter who loves art would get it on a regular basis. Now I find out that those art classes are in after school programs. Im welcomed into the school in an auditorium that was dark and this was after waiting in line to sign in! I hear more about trips than what my daughter is doing academically. Mostly, I am saddened by the test scores. Im so frustrated and I want to move my daughter elsewhere but the neighborhood schools are no better. I feel that I was tricked. The school is being encouraged to follow a hip hop culture. Our kids love all sorts of music and cultures. Encourage them to embrace all music and cultures! I don't know what my daughter's next school year will bring but, I'm not confident that this school will prepare her for high school. Close Quote
