Summary

Nyc Museum School is a public high school serving grades 9-12 in New York City's District #2, with a student population of 479. The school has consistently ranked in the top 25% of New York high schools over the past decade, maintaining a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger for the majority of the years analyzed.

Nyc Museum School's academic performance is a key strength, with students outperforming the district and state averages in several Regents exam subjects, including Common Core English Language Arts, Global History and Geography, U.S. History and Government, and Life Science Biology. The school's proficiency rates in these subjects are often 10-20 percentage points higher than the district and state averages, particularly in Common Core English Language Arts, where proficiency rates consistently exceed 90%. Additionally, Nyc Museum School has maintained a relatively high 4-year graduation rate, ranging from 80.3% to 97.5% over the past few years, which is generally higher than the district and state averages.

However, the school's high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 19.2% to 44.0% in recent years, are a concern and may be impacting the overall academic performance and student outcomes. Nyc Museum School is located in close proximity to several other high-performing public high schools, such as Manhattan Village Academy, Nyc Lab High School For Collaborative Studies, and Humanities Preparatory Academy, which share similar district and demographic characteristics but vary in their academic performance and rankings.

Open Quote The NYC Museum school provides an excellent, well rounded education. The teachers work very hard and care about the students. The coursework is very interesting and thought provoking. The trips on Wednesdays are worthwhile and enrich the students learning. The principal cares about the school and is available with any concern. I feel like my son is getting a great education without being overwhelmed. Close Quote

Open Quote Do not come to this school if you're looking for the ultimate high school experience or for this school sky rocket you to academic success. Many teachers of this institution are incompetent. Close Quote
