May Ernest Elementary School consistently outperforms the Clark County and Nevada state averages in both Mathematics and Reading proficiency across all grade levels. However, the school's performance in Science is lower than the district and state averages, with only 19.8% of students proficient or better in 2024-2025, compared to 25% for Clark County and 27.2% for Nevada.

The school's exceptional performance for certain student subgroups, such as African American and Hispanic students, is noteworthy. However, the lower performance of Multi-racial students suggests an area for further investigation and targeted support. Additionally, the school has experienced a relatively high chronic absenteeism rate, ranging from 25.6% to 31.3% over the past few years, which is higher than the district and state averages. The school's higher spending per student and slightly lower student-teacher ratio suggest a focus on resource allocation and staffing to support student learning.

Open Quote My daughter went to this school for Kindergarten 2014-2015 , which was an ok year. But for 1st grade 2015-2016 I pulled her out because the Special Ed teacher would come into her class and ask my daughters teacher in font of the entire class, “Is my cry baby crying today?” And her jerk teacher would go along with it. I IMMEDIATELY pulled her out of May and put her in Candil Hall thanks to help from my family. My daughter has ADHD and is extremely emotional but no teacher should ever say anything like that to a child. NO MATTER WHAT!!!! I can’t believe an adult who chooses to be a special ed teacher would single out and humiliate a child. Absolute crap!
Oh and for first grade this poor class had 4 different teachers within the first few months of the school year. The first teacher left to a different school, then there were 2 substitutes covering for the last and final teacher who out on maternity leave. It was an absolute shit show.
Do NOT enroll you kid(s) here unless you absolutely HAVE to!!!! Close Quote
