Summary

McCall Quannah Elementary School is a public elementary school serving grades PK-5 in North Las Vegas, Nevada, with 288 students enrolled. The school faces significant challenges, with low statewide rankings, poor academic performance, and high chronic absenteeism rates.

Despite relatively high per-student spending and smaller class sizes compared to nearby schools, McCall Quannah Elementary has struggled to improve outcomes. The school's proficiency rates on state assessments are significantly below the Clark County and Nevada state averages across all grades. For example, in 2024-2025, the school's math proficiency rate was 34.9%, compared to 33% for Clark County and 35.4% for Nevada. Additionally, the school has had very high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 23.9% to 31.3% over the past few years.

When comparing McCall Quannah Elementary to nearby schools in the same district, such as Mackey Jo Elementary and Toland Helen Anderson International Academy, the school generally performs worse on key metrics like statewide ranking, test scores, and chronic absenteeism. This suggests that the challenges faced by McCall Quannah Elementary are not unique to the school, but rather reflect broader issues in the surrounding high-poverty area.

Open Quote This school gets additional funding for being a one-star school and lacks books my other son's 5-star school gets less funding and has more books and resources than this school (direct observation)! Their financial statements should be audited because I can't see the funds going to the kids (personally). If I were zoned for this school I would get a zone variance. 1-star schools are so far below average how can you expect your child to learn. They are the bottom of the National averages. Safety - 2 words - School lockdowns for hours with no communication on if the child is safe. Teachers are instructed to not answer the parent's text or call in lockdown. Close Quote
