Students are not allowed to take AP classes, except for a few exceptions when students were nearly fluent in a language or in a higher math level, so if a student is not feeling challenged, she is stuck. Because the school is home to more art-oriented students, most have trouble in science class; science classed move slowly, which can be frustrating to those who can grasp the concepts more easily.

Throughout the year guests come to give theater students workshops in specific fields (such as voice acting, masks, and costume design) which were fun, but because they only lasted for one class, not everyone got a chance to participate. The theater class teaches history, theory, and play interpretations. These classes do not necessarily prepare a student to graduate straight to Broadway, but it does give them a slight edge when they go to college, provided the major is theater.

The building features a black box theater, two dance rooms, make-up rooms, and dressing rooms. A sound studio has been under construction for the past five years. The amphitheater, which is sometimes mention, is really just the brick laid area outside the lobby, and for the most part goes unused. Upstairs, there are biology and chemistry labs. All classrooms have a projector, most have a smart board.

Students' senior year is spent at Kean University as theater majors. Students earn up to 30 credits, but they do not all transfer to college - it really depends on the college the student will attend, some accept the credits, and some don't. Classes at Kean are very easy, no harder than any at APA.
