The school is part of the Hamilton Township Public School District, which is ranked 473 out of 609 districts in New Jersey and has a 1-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Kisthardt Elementary School consistently ranks in the bottom 20% of New Jersey elementary schools, with significantly lower academic performance compared to state and district averages across all grade levels and subject areas. For example, in 2024-2025, only 5.7% of 3rd graders were proficient or better in ELA, compared to 44.9% statewide and 35.1% in the district. The school's performance is particularly low in mathematics, with only 14.3% of 3rd graders, 16.1% of 4th graders, and 31.4% of 5th graders scoring proficient or better in 2024-2025, compared to state averages of 49.8%, 46.7%, and 44.2%, respectively. Additionally, Kisthardt has consistently high chronic absenteeism rates, ranging from 13.3% to 19.1% over the past few years, which is significantly higher than the state average.

While Kisthardt appears to have a relatively high per-student spending and a favorable student-teacher ratio compared to some nearby schools, such as Yardville Heights Elementary and McGalliard Elementary, which have higher proficiency rates and rankings, the school's academic challenges may be systemic issues within the broader region, as evidenced by the lower performance of nearby schools in the Trenton Public School District as well.

Open Quote The class size is out of control. 22+ students for 1 kindergarten teacher doesn't seem reasonable. Lots of busy work and very little teacher student interaction. The curriculum is dull and repetitive- It's glorified babysitting. The principal's understanding of children is questionable. One would think she had never had any experience with children. Her expectations are ridiculous and she seems to enjoy punishing children who don't conform to her "seen and not heard" philosophy. Close Quote
