Great Meadows Regional School District

The Great Meadows Regional School District has two schools serving PK–8: Central Elementary School (PK–3, 349 students) and Great Meadows Regional Middle School (grades 4–8, 361 students). The clearest bright spot is Central’s grade 3 performance: in 2025–2026, 69% were proficient in ELA and 68% in math, about 20 percentage points above state results in both subjects.

Central stands out, while the middle school has both strong results and notable grade-level differences. At the middle school, grade 7 ELA proficiency was 67%, 11 points above the state, and grade 8 Algebra I was 86%, 12 points above the state. Its five-grade averages were 58% in ELA and 42% in math, respectively 7 and 4 points above state averages. Math results were less consistent: grade 4 reached 62% (15 points above state), but grade 5 was 40% (6 points below state), and grade 8 was 23% (about 1 point above state). Central and the middle school serve different tested grades, so their scores are not a direct head-to-head comparison.

Recent trends were mixed: the middle school’s ELA average dipped from 59% to 58% between 2024–2025 and 2025–2026, while its math average rose from 41% to 42%; at Central, grade 3 ELA rose from 65% to 69%, but math fell from 76% to 68%. SchoolDigger ranks Central at the 82nd percentile with 4 stars and the middle school at the 67th percentile with 3 stars. Both reported a student-teacher ratio of 12.4 in 2024–2025. For that school year, free/reduced lunch eligible enrollment was 26% at Central and 22% at the middle school. These figures offer context, not an explanation for score differences; results cover only two years.
