Best Public Schools in Secaucus, NJ

Secaucus has six schools serving elementary, middle and high school students, with 3,164 students enrolled across two elementary schools, one middle school and three high schools. The most important distinction is how widely results vary between high schools: in 2025–2026 Grade 9 Algebra I, proficiency ranged from 29% at Secaucus High School to 89% at High Technical High School, a 60-point spread, while the state result was 22%.

High Technical High School is the high-school standout in several matched tests: it reached 89% in Grade 9 ELA and Algebra I and 59% in Grade 11 science. Secaucus High School led Grade 9 Geometry at 88%, just ahead of High Technical’s 87%. At the middle school, Secaucus Middle School had 100% proficiency in Grade 8 Algebra I, compared with 75% statewide, but its Grade 8 science result was 16%, below the state’s 19%. Among elementary schools, Clarendon School stood out in Grade 3 and Grade 5 mathematics, while both elementary schools had weaker Grade 4 results: Clarendon scored 33% in ELA and 38% in mathematics, below state results of 46% and 47%.

Recent changes are mixed rather than uniformly upward: High Technical’s Grade 9 Algebra I rose 11 points between 2024–2025 and 2025–2026, while the Academy of Career and Technical Education’s Grade 9 Algebra I rose 20 points and its Grade 11 science rose 11 points. At Clarendon, Grade 3 ELA improved 28 points, but Grade 4 ELA fell 20 points. SchoolDigger’s 2025–2026 ranking places High Technical in the 96th percentile; across all six schools, the average SchoolDigger percentile rose from 60 to 69. As context, the 2024–2025 free/reduced lunch eligible measure was 36% at High Technical, 43% at the Academy, 27% at Huber Street School and 38% at Clarendon; these figures do not explain school results.
