Montvale has three public schools serving pre-K through grade 12: Memorial Elementary School serves pre-K–4, Fieldstone Middle School serves grades 5–8, and Pascack Hills High School serves grades 9–12. Together, they enroll 1,743 students. The clearest area-wide finding is that every exact reported 2025–2026 proficiency result was above its corresponding state rate, by 6 to 60 percentage points.
Fieldstone stands out in middle-grade math: sixth graders scored 83% proficient versus 40% statewide, a 43-point advantage; seventh graders were at 71% versus 38%, a 33-point lead. Pascack Hills led in Geometry, with 98% proficient in grade 9 versus 50% statewide, and 96% in the end-of-course result versus 52% statewide. Results shifted unevenly over time: across matched results, the average state-relative advantage eased from 28 points in 2024–2025 to 27 in 2025–2026. Fieldstone’s sixth-grade math proficiency rose 28 points, while its fifth-grade ELA fell 16; Pascack Hills’ ninth-grade ELA fell 14 points. SchoolDigger rankings rose from the 90th to 95th percentile for Fieldstone and 86th to 90th for Memorial, while Pascack Hills moved from the 91st to 87th.
