Summary

Highland-Goffes Falls School is a public elementary school in Manchester, NH, serving 336 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 4 within the Manchester School District. Located on Goffs Falls Road, the school has a favorable 11.2:1 student-teacher ratio and performs better than most nearby Manchester elementary schools, though its statewide results remain below average.

In 2025–2026, 38% of students reached proficiency in math and 46% in reading. These results are well above the Manchester district averages of 20% and 31%, respectively, but below New Hampshire averages of 44% in math and 55% in reading. Reading is the school’s relative strength: it had the highest reading proficiency among the nearby Manchester schools compared, slightly exceeding Green Acres School and surpassing Jewett School, Weston Elementary School, Parker-Varney School, and Bakersville School. Mathematics is the clearest concern, particularly third grade, where proficiency was 34%, compared with 54% statewide. Overall, the school ranked around the 25th percentile statewide, down from stronger results in recent years.

Compared with schools outside Manchester, the achievement gap is larger. Math and reading proficiency at Peter Woodbury School in Bedford were 87% and 79%, while Memorial School recorded 79% and 72%, and North Londonderry Elementary School recorded 66% and 65%. Mill Falls Charter School was somewhat stronger in reading, at 63%, but only modestly higher in math, at 42%. These comparisons reflect different district and community contexts. For parents, the main takeaway is that Highland-Goffes Falls is one of Manchester’s stronger elementary schools, with stable reading performance, relatively small class sizes, and a need for renewed focus on mathematics.

Open Quote Grades 1-4 were absolutely a wonderfull and a positive experience. The teachers seemed to be caring, ready to help with any questions, all around good at teaching. Thank you to all of them! Now my grandchild is in 5th grade and there were changes. [All the problems with this teacher I cannot believe she is still there.(tenure I've heard) This child has always loved school, gotten A's and some B's. This teacher does not believe in homework but expects all work done within a short period of time, puts the students down and does not appear to want to take the time to assist when assistance is needed. There seems to be quite a few students and parents having the same problem with this teacher and previous years.] Otherwise this school was a good experience. Sad this one problem could not be addressed Close Quote

Open Quote Our family just moved from out of state and I was worried that my son, starting first grade at this school, wouldn't do so well with new teachers, new school and new students. But at his other school in Maine, he always said he didn't like school and he was bored. At highland he says he loves school and his teacher!!! The school buses i'm not pleased with, so i drive him to and from school. Close Quote
