However, nearby Ashe County Schools include high-poverty schools such as Blue Ridge Elementary and Westwood Elementary that rank higher, suggesting poverty alone does not tell the whole story. Subgroup results show improvement among female students and students from low-income households in recent years. Continuing that momentum, while focusing on upper-grade math and science instruction, would be the most logical next step.
