The school is part of the Wake County Schools district, which is ranked 60th out of 242 districts in North Carolina and has a 4-star rating from SchoolDigger.

Pleasant Grove Elementary has shown mixed academic performance compared to the state and district averages. In the 2024-2025 school year, the school's proficiency rates in mathematics and reading were generally lower than the Wake County and North Carolina averages, with some exceptions in 4th grade reading and 5th grade science. Compared to nearby schools in the same district, Pleasant Grove Elementary's academic performance is generally lower than Alston Ridge Elementary and Cedar Fork Elementary, which consistently outperform the school across grade levels and subject areas. However, Pleasant Grove Elementary outperforms the nearby out-of-district schools, such as Spring Valley Elementary and Bethesda Elementary, which are part of the Durham Public Schools district and have lower proficiency rates.

Pleasant Grove Elementary has seen an increase in the percentage of students receiving free or reduced-price lunch, from 26.66% in 2021-2022 to 48.2% in 2022-2023, indicating a growing population of economically disadvantaged students. The school's performance gaps among different student subgroups, particularly the lower rankings for Asian and Hispanic students, as well as students with disabilities and from low socioeconomic backgrounds, indicate the need for more targeted support and resources to ensure equitable outcomes for all students. By addressing the identified challenges and learning from the successes of nearby high-performing schools, the school can work towards providing a more equitable and high-quality education for all its students.

Open Quote I had multi issues with this school. There was a physical incident in the bathroom with my kindergarten daughter. If your looking for a good school please try and choose an alternative for your children if you can. This was an awful experience. Close Quote

Open Quote This is such a wonderful school. Fairly new school, lots of dedicated staff and faculty who have the best interest for all their students. Incredible PTA who goes above and beyond to ensure their mission statement is always represented in their actions. Since it's new, the children have lots of modern furniture, nice learning spaces and clean school. The staff are encouraging and involved. I can not thank enough the staff and faculty for making the transition from out of state a breeze. Close Quote
