South Elementary

South Elementary is a public PK–5 school in Roxboro, North Carolina, serving 463 students as part of Person County Schools. Over the past decade, South has climbed from the bottom of North Carolina's elementary rankings — the 10th percentile in 2018–2019 — to the 51st percentile today, roughly the state median. Regional standouts like Mangum Elementary and Bethel Hill Charter post proficiency rates 20 points or more above South's in several subjects. South Elementary is clearly moving in the right direction, but the journey is incomplete — fifth grade and enrichment for advanced learners remain the biggest opportunities.
