Meadowbrook Elementary is a small school in Canton, NC, serving about 198 students in grades PK–5 as part of the Haywood County Schools district, which ranks in the top quartile of districts statewide. Meadowbrook was a dependable mid-tier school for most of the past decade, earning three stars from North Carolina in nearly every year between 2015 and 2023. In the last two reported school years, though, its rating fell to two stars and its statewide percentile dropped into the mid-30s. That decline stands out because it is not happening across the county — nearby schools in Haywood County still rank between the 54th and 96th percentiles, making Meadowbrook the lowest-ranked elementary school in its immediate cluster.
