Kearns Academy, located on McGuinn Drive in High Point, North Carolina, is a very small public high school within Guilford County Schools that serves just 108 students in grades 9–12. It earns a 3-star rating and ranks at the 52nd percentile of North Carolina high schools — a solidly mid-range standing that looks even more impressive when compared to the traditional high schools surrounding it. Kearns sits almost directly beside T Wingate Andrews High, yet the two schools tell very different stories: Kearns ranks at the 52nd percentile statewide while Andrews lands at just the 18th percentile.

What makes Kearns stand out? Math. In 2025–2026, 58.3% of Kearns students scored proficient on the Math I exam — more than 24 points above the Guilford County Schools district average and higher than Southwest Guilford High (22.4%), Lucy Ragsdale High (40.4%), and T Wingate Andrews High (29.9%). The math advantage isn't a one-year fluke; Kearns has exceeded district averages for years. Kearns also experienced a sharp pandemic-era drop before stabilizing into its current 3-star pattern. Even so, for parents seeking a small environment with strong math instruction and more personal attention than the area's larger neighborhood high schools typically provide, Kearns Academy is a compelling option.
