The school earned a 4-star rating in 2025-2026, ranking 337th out of 1,492 North Carolina elementary schools – placing it in the 77th percentile. Compared to nearby schools, Stokesdale sits in the upper-middle tier. It far outperforms Bethany Elementary and Huntsville Elementary, which rank in the 61st and 25th percentiles respectively. However, several close alternatives rank higher, including Oak Ridge Elementary (98th percentile), Summerfield Charter Academy (97th), and Greensboro Academy (97th). Even Colfax Elementary, despite a nearly 100% free/reduced lunch rate, outranks Stokesdale statewide. In 2025-2026, Stokesdale exceeded state proficiency averages in every subject and grade, but its scores lagged behind top-area schools – for instance, 4th-grade math proficiency was 62.5% at Stokesdale versus 90.1% at Oak Ridge.

Stokesdale shows real strengths in attendance, with a 14.6% chronic absenteeism rate, well below the state's 24.2%. Its special education students have had strong years, though recent results have been inconsistent, and its low-income student subgroup has received a 1-star rating for three consecutive years. Encouragingly, Hispanic students have improved dramatically, rising from the 44th to the 93rd percentile in statewide subgroup rankings over three years. Overall, Stokesdale is a solid choice, especially relative to its district, but families seeking the absolute highest academic performance in this area may find stronger options nearby.

Open Quote I've done volunteer work at Stokesdale Elementary in my daughter's classes for the past few years. The teachers are fantastic, and the agenda for the kids keeps them on track and busy learning. They are all wonderful people there, I'd recommend this school to anyone. It's been a lot of fun to get the opportunity to work with the kids and teachers there. Close Quote
