The school currently holds a 3-star statewide rating at the 59th percentile (274th of 662 North Carolina high schools). Its ranking has slipped since earning 4 stars at the 84th percentile in 2018–2019, though recent years suggest it has stabilized. Within the local region, NE Academy outperforms several traditional high schools, including Currituck County High, Pasquotank County High, Northeastern High, and Perquimans County High, while sitting below Camden County High and nearby specialized early colleges.
