Summary

College Prep and Leadership Academy is a public charter school in Jamestown, North Carolina that serves 868 students in grades K-12. The school is part of the The College Preparatory and Leadership A district and serves a high-need student population, with very high free/reduced lunch rates ranging from 57.55% to 98.62% over the past 3 school years.

While the school's test scores generally lag behind the state averages, it outperforms some of the nearby alternative and charter schools, particularly in math. For example, in 2024-2025, College Prep and Leadership Academy had 62.5% proficiency in 6th grade math compared to just 23.1% at Carter G. Woodson School and Doris Henderson Newcomers School. The school also performs relatively well on the English II EOC exam, with 65.4% proficiency in 2024-2025 compared to the state average of 59.6%.

However, the school has seen a significant increase in its student-teacher ratio, rising from 19.5 in 2021-2022 to 47.7 in 2023-2024, which is quite high compared to nearby charter schools like Cornerstone Charter Academy-CFA (18.8) and Triad Math and Science Academy (15.9). This could negatively impact the school's ability to provide individualized support and instruction to its high-need student population, an area the school should closely monitor and address.

Open Quote Great school. I moved to High Point from Wake Forest, NC where my children attended a private school. I was very concerned about sending my children to our neighborhood school. This school has been a godsend my kindergartener is reading on a 2nd grade level. My fifth grader is in honors classes and there is no social drama or bullying at all. Close Quote
