Open Quote I retired after 2020-2021 school year. I taught middle school science for the last 3 school years, mostly 8th grade science, but also Biology to 8th graders (they took the HS EOC test) Physical Science to 7th graders, (they took the HS EOC test), and electives to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders (combined). Last year I taught all the 8th grade students 8th grade science who then took the 8th grade Science EOG test. Inspite of COVID they all were amazing. Their test scores were the best ever and the two years prior those test scores did not leave much room to score higher, and yet they did. Test scores aren't the end-all but they are an indicator of much and to end my career, that started in 1997, with these TMSA middle school students excelling as they did, well, I could not ask for more. Kudos to all the teachers who taught these 8th graders from K up through 5th, 6th, and 7th grade before they came to me. You were also a big part of their success in this COVID school year of 2020-2021. Close Quote
